Enthusiastic
wine drinkers, who like to be in the know, generate new ideas and
put on great parties. Oh, by the way, you also have to do a bit
of planning and work in a team with other passionate wine drinkers,
but that's the fun part. What are we talking about? The SWWS Executive
and the Pouring Team of course. Let us know if you are interested
in joining for our next season beginning September 2003. |

Our
Premium
and Super-Premium red wines of Chile and Argentina
tasting held on May 21 was outstanding. All these wines can be picked
as a winner on its own and it was hard to compare and vote for our
favourite wines. In addition to these premium wines the Listel Hotel
had paired up food to compliment the wines. Our speaker at this
evening's tasting was Paul Watkin, a wine educator and consultant.
Paul brings nearly two decades of experience in the wine/hospitality
trade. Our favourite premium Chilean and Argentinean wines are:
1.Domus Aurea Cab.S. Chile 1997, 2. Finca Flichman Dedicado Cab.S./
Syrah/Malbec/Merlot Arg 1997, 3. Antiyal Carmenere/Cab.S./Syrah
Chile 1999. Here
is the full tasting report. |

The
Pinot Noir tasting held on April 24 was quite unique as
we sampled some top examples of Southern Hemisphere Pinot Noir
in the first ever Southern Hemisphere Pinot Noir taste-off in
Vancouver. We sourced prime examples of Pinot Noir to identify
common traits and differences. Our speaker at this evening's tasting
was James Nevison of HalfaGlass.com. He brought a unique, youthful
perspective to the tastings. Our favourite Pinot Noir wines are:
1.Hamilton Russell 2001, SA, 2. Stonier Reserve 1998, Mornington
Pen, Aus. Here
is the full tasting report.
